National Volunteer Week 2016
Today marks the beginning of National Volunteer Week 2016, which runs from 9-15 May. In 2016 the theme is Give Happy, Live Happy which, explores the research that shows volunteers live happier and healthier lives.
JCS says a huge THANK YOU to all our fantastic volunteers who dedicate many hours to support us deliver our valued services and programs to our community members.
Honouring SA’s Jewish ANZACS, 100 years on

Changes to Client Fees from 1 March

Carer support programmes funding extension for JCS
17 February 2016
The Assistant Minister for Social Services, Hon Alan Tudge MP, recently announced a 12 month grant extension for organisations delivering carer support services.
JCS is currently funded as part of the Counselling, Support, Information and Advocacy (CSIA) carer support programme and as part of this announcement we will have our grant agreement extended through to 30 June 2017.

Board of Management for 2015/2016
Following the Jewish Community Services Incorporated Annual General Meeting, held on Sunday 18 October 2015, and the election of Office Bearers for 2015/2016, Mr Robert Nachum has been reappointed as Chairman of the JCS Board of Management.
Also reappointed to the JCS Board of Management for this term are Ms Jill Noble as Treasurer and Ms Amanda Kay who was appointed to the role Secretary following the resignation of Ms Ilana Culshaw. Ms Heather Croucher has also been reappointed Board Member for 2015/2016.
Ms Janet Henrie joins the JCS Board of Management to serve as Board Member for 2015/2016.

Aged Care Complaints Commissioner
From 1 January 2016 the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner is responsible for the management of complaints about the care and services provided to people receiving Australian Government subsidised aged care.
The Aged Care Complaints Commissioner provides a free service for anyone to raise their concerns about the quality of care or services being delivered to people receiving aged care services funded by the Australian Government.

Jewish Synagogues in Adelaide
Adelaide Hebrew Congregation, established 1848, opened its first synagogue in 1850. South Australia’s orthodox synagogue is at 13 Flemington Street, Glenside. Learn More.

Planning Ahead – Take control of your future today
Planning Ahead is about taking control of your future. It is about putting things in place. It means that your choices will be known and acted on if you cannot express them yourself at some time in the future.
This may happen if you have a sudden accident, become very ill or develop a condition that affects your memory and your planning ability.
Various legal tools are available to help secure future health, financial, legal and personal choices – such as an Advance Care Directive, Enduring Power of Attorney, Will and registration for organ and tissue donation. Making wishes known in advance can help reduce family stress and conflict during times of crisis.
It is never too early to plan ahead:
- Talk to your family now about your future wishes!
- Act now to protect your future rights, wishes, values and preferences!
Quality of Care Principles
The Quality of Care Principles 2014 set out the responsibilities of approved providers in providing care and services for residential and home care. The principles specify the care and services that an approved provider of residential care is to provide, set out the Accreditation Standards that must be met by a residential care service to achieve accreditation, specify the care and services that an approved provider of home care is to provide, and set out the Home Care Standards that a home care provider is expected to meet as a part of quality review.
