Changes to Client Contributions & Fees from 1 March 2016

In December 2015, JCS undertook a review of all client contributions and fees across its services and programs as part of the changes to the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).

JCS has tried very hard to keep all fees and contributions to a minimum, with the last increase being in July 2014.

As with all community service providers, our costs have increased significantly and our level of funding has decreased slightly given the changes in funding models as part of the CHSP.  There continues to be an expectation by our funding body, the Department of Health, that clients will continue to make a contribution to services and activities received (Fee for Service) with those charges supplementing our Government funding.

That being the case, the JCS Board of Management has concluded that in order to maintain the level of services currently provided and to meet our rising costs, it will be necessary to increase all fees and contributions from 1 March 2016.

These changes will mean an increase to the client contribution for clients accessing the following services:

  • Domestic Assistance
  • Personal Care
  • Social Support
  • Gardening
  • Bagels Lunch & Cooking Group
  • Social Outings &  Activities

Client contributions are set according to income levels.  Because your financial situation and/or service requirements may change, JCS will periodically review the client contribution and fees you are charged.

From 1 March 2016, the standard client contribution for in home support services will increase from $7.50 per hour to $11.00 per hour and for clients currently paying $15.00 per hour (based on their income level) the client contribution will increase to $20.00 per hour.

Transport fees will also increase slightly from $5.00 return to $6.00 return

You can ask JCS at any time to reconsider the client contribution you are paying.  JCS will undertake a review of your financial circumstances.

You will never be denied service because of an inability to pay. JCS has ensured that  new fees and contributions for services and programs  meet the expectations of the Commonwealth Government as set out in the National Guide to the Commonwealth Home Support Program Client Contribution Framework. For further information about the Framework, please contact the JCS office.

JCS will also apply a Fees Cap to ensure those clients who require a high level of services are not disadvantaged financially. This will mean a maximum client contribution payable for all services received per week.
